Ruins

“I ruined you,” he said.
“I ruined you,” she thought.
“Please take me back.”
“I want you back.”

I faced my demons
With the sound of your voice.
But I was yours,
Me and my choice.

Not even my words
Deserve to be heard
By the one who cut the cords
And had our hearts severed.

The demons are turning
From their graves of deep slumber
But we’ll find our light, hoping,
We’ll put things back, together.
