Statue

He comes at the ungodliest of hours
Offering gifts, and goods, and everything–
Hoping they’ll speak for the wishes he can’t utter.
But it was in vain.
For he was at the wrong altar.
And the statue can’t give him what he wants.
“You are at the wrong altar,”
The statue said.
“Not if I choose this to be the right one,”
He said.
But the words fell on stone ears.
He was the only who offered flowers.
But the statue sent him away.
It rained.
